I offer a range of services to meet your needs. General footcare, toe nail cutting service, Verucca management, diabetic footcare and management, callus reduction, ingrown toe nail treatment, cracked heels, corn removal and foot wear advice.
Toe Nail Cutting: £30.00
Simple toenail cutting service available for those who “just can’t get down there anymore!” (30 mins)
Foot Treatment: £35.00 – £40.00
In addition to the nail cutting and filing, hard skin removal and dealing with any corns or callus or ingrown toe nails. (40 mins)
Medical Pedicure /Pamper and Relax: £45.00
Home Visit: £38.00
This is a foot treatment that involves a luxurious salt, foot soak and foot scrub to remove dead skin cells. Any calloused areas are removed, split heels are dealt with, corns or verrucae are addressed and then the treatment is completed with an invigorating lower limb massage. (1 hour)
Nail Reconstruction: from £30.00
This is a procedure that aims to rebuild a damaged nail. It is a similar process to gel nails where a self-levelling gel- compound is layered and then hardened using UV lighting. This process can be particularly effective to cover a fungal nail to temporarily improve its appearance and allow more confidence when wearing shoes that expose the toes.
Nail Varnish plus £5.00
Can be added to any of the above treatments if required.
NB. I do not offer gel nails using a UV lamp.
Neurovascular Assessment: £70.00
A full neurovascular assessment is offered if required by our wound care specialist who also works in the NHS as an RGN (level 7) for over 20 years. Geraldine Stephens is available for advanced bookings only and will be able to answer your questions about any numbness experienced in your feet and potential problems with circulation. A doppler ultrasound test will be used to help diagnose any issues (this is a non-invasive test that measures the blood flow through your blood vessels) and a treatment plan and advice is offered – a must for diabetics.

Home Visits
I offer home visits for clients that are unable to get into the foot clinic but the number of appointments are limited so booking in advance is advisable.
I currently undertake home visits for clients the East Preston and Rustington area as well as Goring, West and East Worthing, Durrington, Findon and Ferring.
Footcare FAQ’s
Do I need regular visits or is a one off appointment enough?
Each client is different, for some people it’s a specific issue they need help with such as a corn or ingrown toenail and once sorted and advice has been given, it may be a long time before you need any other treatment.
For others, they enjoy the regular nail trims, the reduction of hard skin and a good massage at the end of their treatment. They may have got to the stage where it is hard to safely reach their toes with a pair of nail clippers and therefore feel the need for more regular visits.
What’s the difference between a podiatrist and a chiropodist?
Chiropody is a rather outdated term for someone who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of foot conditions and lower limb problems. Podiatry is the more modern term to describe someone who has trained for three years and gained a Bsc in Podiatry and who is able to administer local anaesthetics and have a licence for issuing prescription only medicines.
So what does a Foot Health Care Practitioner Do?
Foot Health Care practitioners are the foot soldiers of the Podiatry world. Your FHP can do many of the things a podiatrist can do such as: nail cutting, callus removal, ingrown toe nails, corn removal, dealing with cracked heels, fungal infections, verrucae removal as well as diabetic foot care and education. With the massive increase in type 2 diabetes in the world, foot care and education about ‘how to care’ for your feet has never been more necessary. Diabetics must take extra care of their feet as they are more susceptible to neuropathy and numbness. If you are unable to feel your feet, then the risk of infection and ulceration is significantly higher and the healing process is slow and difficult. Your FHP will be able to support you to prevent this happening and help maintain a healthy foot regime with regular visits.
Should I soak my nails before a treatment?
It does make the nails a little softer to cut if they have been soaked prior to having them trimmed. For some people with sensitive feet or who have the beginnings of neuropathy; this can reduce the vibration which can be a little uncomfortable. For the podiatrist or foot health care practitioner; it doesn’t make a huge amount of difference, the nippers used to trim nails are pretty strong and can cut through most nails however thick they are.
Is a fungal infection contagious?
Yes it is! Fungal infections are spread by direct skin contact or indirectly from contaminated surfaces such as floors, shared towels or shoes.
How do I stop foot fungus from spreading?
Wash socks, towels and sheets at 60 degrees to help get rid of fungus and stop it spreading. Use an anti-fungal shoe spray (such as Scholl’s Antifungal shoe spray) regularly and make sure that you change socks daily and keep feet clean. It’s also imperative that you dry your feet thoroughly after showering especially between the toes. As with all fungi, it loves dark damp places to spread its spores so give your feet plenty of time out of shoes whenever you can. Finally, use an anti- fungal cream or spray as guided by your FHP to help improve your symptoms.
Do you treat diabetics?
Absolutely! They need foot care more than anyone and we are well trained to care for and support diabetic feet and their owners!
Is nail varnish bad for my nails?
In a word yes! Varnish can and will dry out your nails and damage your nail integrity. If you leave the varnish on for too long, it will make them brittle and they will be unable to fulfil their actual purpose which is to provide a barrier to keep out bacteria. Allowing your nails some “time off” from varnish so they can rehydrate themselves is a good idea as varnish that is left on for too long can discolour the nails.
If you have a fairly advanced case of fungal nails (ie when the affected nail goes from the base of the nail to the free edge) then it is fine to cover the nails with varnish to improve their appearance, especially in summer when you might want to wear open toed sandals . It is also possible to have a nail reconstruction over the top of an infected nail to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
Do I need to take my nail varnish off?
Ideally, yes if you can, your foot health care practitioner cannot really assess the health of your nails unless there is a good view of them. If you are unable to remove your varnish then your FHP will do it for you. If it is gel nail varnish; this is time consuming and an extra charge may be made.
How long is the Initial visit?
Whether you are at home or in the clinic, the initial visit is usually around 45 minutes long.
Do I need to provide anything for a home visit?
It would be great if you could provide a hand towel and access to some hot water ( it may be beneficial to soak the feet during the treatment)
What payment options do you offer?
Cash is always welcome but I also have a card reader or if you prefer, a bank transfer is possible.
What to expect in the clinic
Once you are seated comfortably in the podiatry chair you will be required to give me some details about your medical history, this will enable me to give you the best possible care. It helps if you could bring a prescription list with you so we are aware of any medical conditions that may affect your feet and possible treatment. The treatment usually last approximately 40 minutes but is shorter for simple nail cutting and longer for a medical pedicure (approximately 1 hour)
If you are having nail varnish applied; you may wish to bring a pair of flip flops with you so the polish doesn’t spoil.
Testimonials
What my clients say…
I am so happy to have found Lorna. She is the fourth person I have used for my foot care and the best by far. My feet always feel so lovely when she has finished.
Sylvia, Ferring
We belong to the ‘Rustington posse’. Lorna comes every 7 weeks to our homes (we all live near each other) and performs her magic. We aren’t as mobile as we once were, so having Lorna visit is a godsend. Leaves us walking on air.
Bev, Rustington
Lorna visits my dad at home and has done so now for over a year now and nothing is ever too much trouble. She is so very professional. The treatment she offers is great for dad and Lorna is a fantastic person to deal with, always going the extra mile.
Damion, Worthing
Feel like a new woman. Who knew! Just great – thanks Lorna.
Jo, Findon Valley
Lorna has helped me so much with the various problems I have had with my feet. Could not recommend highly enough. Great value too.
Tracey, Offington, Worthing
Since having both my hips replaced, I have been unable to reach my toenails. Lorna visits to my home have been invaluable and we set up a regular schedule of treatment to help look after my feet.
Jonathan, Lancing
Lorna is a welcome visitor to Brockenhurst, she is never phased by some of our longer standing residents, always showing kindness and patience – engaging them in conversation and making the experience socially enjoyable.
Norma, Brockenhurst, Littlehampton
Being able to park directly outside the clinic makes it easy for me to visit. Always an enjoyable experience I feel like a new man. As an elderly gentleman who is now corn free, a walk is far more comfortable and a real pleasure.
Barry, Sompting
I was delighted to be able to buy a specific cream from Lorna which helped massively with my dry skin condition. It was easy to purchase and even when I included the cost of my treatment; it was real value for money. I also look forward to seeing Lorna as we cover a wide range of random topics and spend a lot of time laughing!
Sylvia, East Preston
I have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Whilst all new to me, my doctor explained the importance of avoiding cuts and open wounds on my feet so recommended a foot care specialist to keep on top on my split heels. After just one visit with Lorna there’s been a huge improvement and my diabetic nurse was very impressed.
Ross, Angmering
Lorna did a luxury pedicure for me and it was excellent. Very friendly and easy to talk to, she did a very professional job. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Rebecca, Broadwater
My daughter was very anxious about seeing someone to treat her verrucas but Lorna took the trouble to find a subject she enjoyed and distracted her from the task in hand. Coupled with Lornas reassurance and gentle approach, she has made this into a far more enjoyable experience for her.
